When It’s Time for God to Act
August 2, 2026 André K. Dugger
“It is time for the Lord to act, for they have violated your instruction. Since I love your commands more than gold, even the purest gold.”
Psalm 119:126-127 (CSB)
There are moments when your heart cries out, “Lord, it’s time for You to do something.” You look around and see a world that disregards God’s truth, mocks His Word, and celebrates what He forbids. That cry isn’t born from impatience; it comes from a longing for righteousness and a deep love for God’s name to be honored again.
The psalmist felt that tension. He saw people breaking God’s law and dishonoring His Word, and it stirred him to pray for divine intervention. Yet, notice where his focus remained. His plea wasn’t just for judgment on others; it was for his own heart to remain anchored in love for God’s commands. “Since I love your commands more than gold, even the purest gold.”
When you love God’s Word above all else, your perspective changes. You begin to measure life not by worldly success or wealth, but by faithfulness to His truth. Gold can buy influence and comfort, but it cannot purchase peace with God. His commands, however, are treasures that enrich your soul for eternity.
Saying, “It is time for the Lord to act,” is also a statement of trust. It acknowledges that you are not the one who must fix what’s broken. God sees every injustice, every distortion of His Word, every sin that mocks His holiness. He will act at the right time; in His perfect way. Your role is to remain steadfast in love for Him and His Word and remain obedient to His will.
Even when the world grows darker, hold tighter to Scripture. When others disregard God’s truth, let it drive you to treasure it even more. The more you love His Word, the more you’ll trust His timing; and the less you’ll be shaken by the chaos around you.
Reflection Question: When you see the world rejecting God’s truth, how can you respond in a way that both trusts His timing and demonstrates your love for His Word?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, when evil seems to prevail, remind me that You will act in Your perfect time. Help me to love Your Word more than anything this world offers and to stand firm in truth until You move in power. In Jesus name, Amen.
