The Purity and Power of God’s Word
September 14, 2026 André K. Dugger
“Your word is completely pure, and your servant loves it. I am insignificant and despised, but I do not forget your precepts. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your instruction is true.”
Psalm 119:140-142 (CSB)
There’s a simple but life-changing truth at the heart of these verses: everything in this world fades, but God’s Word remains flawlessly pure. The psalmist says, “Your word is completely pure.” That means it is without flaw, mixture, or corruption; it is holy, trustworthy, and eternally relevant. The purity of God’s Word reflects the purity of God Himself.
When you love God’s Word, you are loving the voice of the One who never lies, never fails, and never changes. In a world filled with distorted messages and moral confusion, Scripture stands as a steady light. It doesn’t bend to cultural tides or human opinion. It remains true from generation to generation, pointing your heart back to the unchanging righteousness of God.
The psalmist admits, “I am insignificant and despised.” You may feel the same at times; overlooked, ridiculed, or opposed for your faith. But notice his response: “I do not forget your precepts.” When you build your life on God’s truth, your worth is no longer measured by how the world sees you. Your identity rests in being loved by a righteous God whose Word secures your place in His eternal plan.
Every promise in Scripture carries the weight of divine purity and the assurance of God’s righteousness. You can trust His instruction because it is “everlasting;” it doesn’t expire or weaken over time. God’s Word will outlast every kingdom, every false ideology, and every fleeting opinion.
When you cling to that truth, you find strength, courage, and peace that the world cannot give.
Reflection Question: When you feel small or overlooked, how does remembering the purity and eternal truth of God’s Word strengthen your faith and renew your sense of worth in Him?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, your Word is pure and your righteousness endures forever. Teach me to treasure your truth above every voice that tries to define me. Even when I feel small or forgotten, help me remember that your promises never fail. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
